The Alexander Estate, sits on 1.5 acres just 2 blocks from the historic Santa Barbara Mission. The house built in 1906 by renowned architect Francis W. Wilson, known for his work on the Central Savings Bank, the Santa Barbara Railroad Station, and the original Santa Barbara Post office—now the Santa Barbara Museum of Art.
Architecturally, the estate is a gorgeous blend of the Craftsman with the Mission Revival styles, surrounded by beautifully landscaped grounds. The history and beauty of this property share a special part of the Upper East area of Santa Barbara.
According to the Historic Resources Inventory, in 1928, Mrs. Henrietta Alexander purchased the property and lived there with her husband even after her husband’s death until 1938. The house was sold and gifted to the Santa Barbara Association for Old Age Care for the purpose of opening a retirement community.
